About

Who is the person behind The Lowe-Down?

Hi I’m Daniel, a school chaplain with a love of coffee (decaf only these days), a fascination for cultural trends, and a heart for teenagers. When I’m not navigating the school day amidst the helter-skelter teenage energy and the relentless regimentation of the school bell, you can often find me out running or hanging out at the dog park with my two Golden Retrievers, Sparkie and Whisky.

Faith, teens, and the occasional facepalm?

Faith is an important part of my life, and while this blog isn’t intended to be solely about faith matters, you’ll usually find a Christian perspective reflected in my writing.

Teenagers dominate most of my working day, and (most of the time) I wouldn’t have it any other way. Most of what I write is aimed at those who deal with teenagers (parents, chaplains, teachers, etc.) rather than directly addressing teens themselves, though I do occasionally inflict articles on my own teenage children for critique.

Facepalm As for facepalm moments – they make for great writing material. Sometimes the facepalm is my reaction to something said or done, and sometimes it’s directed at myself. Hang around teenagers long enough, and you’re bound to encounter plenty of facepalms in both directions!
